Assisted Living nursing home differences
Nursing home or assisted living?
Nursing home or assisted living? How do we find the best one around Dallas TX? What is the real difference?
We are just confused about what to do with our elderly family member. He cannot fully take care of himself, but has no real disability. He is forgetful and needs an oxygen machine (which he does not like to wear much, but needs to), and help with medicine.
He can eat and bath himself, but cannot fix his food or get in and out of a bathtub. Any suggestions? He cannot live fully by himself but our home is not suited for him either because we have stairs & work full time.
Thanks!
I’ve been there before. I’ve been to both, LOTS of times. And let me tell you in my experiences the Assisted Living people are GREAT! Nursing homes can sometimes be not as healthy, clean, and not as friendly. Assisted Living also tends to have more fun activities than Nursing Homes. Assisted Living has environments that are alot better than the Nursing Homes, please, if you can afford it put him in Assisted Living!
Hope this Helps
Oh and to find one near year, if you ask a hospital they will most likely know all of the good ones.

The first thing a visitor might notice when walking into Blaine Manor is the lack of that odd, institutional smell that characterizes most nursing facilities.
