Assisted Living nursing facilities
What criteria did you use when selecting a nursing home or Assisted Living Facility for a loved one?
Obviously, location is a big factor, as is price. But what other criteria did you use to make a selection?
Some more details- my grandmother has dementia, so right now she mainly needs assisted living, but I would like to see her in a facility with a great nursing home as well so when the time comes she has an easy transition with less stress on all of us. She fell yesterday in her home and had to call someone to come help her, she is not able to clean for herself, cannot remember what she ate or whether she has eaten, doesn’t remember her meds and things like that.
How CLEAN the facility was, the staff: how they care for the people living there: whether they were well fed, bathed and how often. You have to keep tabs with your loved one (I would recommend daily) and the staff to make sure that your loved one is being treated well.
You would have to make sure that the staff knows your loved ones medical history and what medications they need to take daily, etc.
