Assisted Living licensing
Laws regarding assisted living in CA?
My grandmother lives in a licensed assisted living home. This place has changed owners many times. They went from providing her with full hot meals, to now she only gets a bowl of canned soup (very high in sodium) and a sandwhich (the nurses now don’t know how to cook). This is obviously not a good diet and has caused her some health problems. My mom has taken to making huge batches (enough to feed all the people there) of healthy soups and taking it to them on a weekly basis. Are there any specifics laws on what they have to feed them? Like a certain amount of fresh veggies/fruit a day? I tried googling Assisted Living Laws but I just found articles not laws.
We don’t want to move her if we don’t have to as she has mental problems and moving her would cause a lot of stress on everyone. She also like the “homey” feeling of where she is at. We aren’t worried they are starving here, it’s just the QUALITY of the food. We are just curious if there are laws about it.
See if you can get someone who practices Grey Law to help you or at least answer your questions and point you in the right direction.
